Brief History of the church
The church first began meeting in 1852 under an oak tree along the south east shore of Lake Thonotosassa. A branch arbor shelter was later constructed. The families that began the church were Franklins, Mileys, Stephens, Wilders, Sparkmans, Gallaghers, and Graves.
A log building was later constructed on the present church location. This was followed by a frame building that served the congregation for nearly 100 years. This building was replaced by a block building in 1965.
